About Peter
Cooking Barramundi
Peter was born and bred in the Kimberley bush, he worked as a stockman on the big cattle stations, made it to film star in Sydney next to Ernie Dingo in 'Dead Heart' but always found time to teach the kids of his community the traditional way Aboriginals lived.
Peter is an excellent bush cook. He is very knowledgeable on bush tucker as he has had to live by it so many times. He says he learned it from the old people. Life for Peter has always been full of changes and adventures, this combined with his amusing way of talking and teaching skills makes him a 'great storyteller'.
Peter has been a guide for Kimberley Camel Safaris
for the last two years, during which he learned to handle camels.
With his team of men from the Pandanus Park Community he feeds and looks after the camels during their break between walks.
In September 1999: Peter co-lead with Tom Beckers the Cranbrook~Nyikina Camel Expedition for 9 days through the bush he knows so well.
He showed the 16 year old kids from Sydney how his people live in the bush, told them about Aboriginal law and taught them Aboriginal songs.
In June 2000: Peter co-lead with Tom Beckers the Vartman Walk of 66 members for 9 days along the Fitzroy River. He explained animal tracks, showed the harvest of bush food, around the campfire he told stories of his ancestors and the animals and plants of the bush.
